About Instagram

Instagram is a photo or video sharing social networking platform owned by Facebook, Inc. Created by Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom, it was launched in October 2010 exclusively on iOS. The Android version was released a year and a half later. This app allows users to upload photos and videos which can be edited using a variety of filters and also organized with tag and location information. An account posts can either be shared with the public or pre-approved followers. Users can even like photos and flow other users in order to add their content to a feed. Instagram rapidly gained popularity with one million registered users within two months of its launch. In the year 2012 Facebook acquired the service for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock.
What are the features of Instagram?

Instagram allows its users to upload short videos and photographs, geotag images with the name of a location and even follow other users’ feed.

    Explore-Instagram introduced the ‘Explore’ feature in June 2012. It is a tab within the app that displays popular photos or videos taken at nearby location and search. The app was later updated in November 2016 after Instagram Live launched. In 2017 Instagram once again updated the Explore tab to promote public stories content from nearby locations.
    Video-Initially Instagram was a sole photo sharing app but in June 2013 it incorporated a 15-second video sharing. The 15-second video limit was increased to 60 seconds in March 2016.
    Photographic filters- Users can choose from a wide range of options while applying filters to their images. Normal, Amaro, Hefe, Hudson , Inkwell , Kelvin, Lo-fi, Mayfair, Nashville, Rise, Sierra , Sutro , Toaster, Valencia , Walden , Willow, Slumber , Crema , Ludwig, Aden , Perpetua, Clarendon , Gingham , Moon, Crema , Lark , Reyes, Juno are a few noteworthy filters.
    IGTV- It is a vertical video application launched by Instagram in the year 2018. It allows users to upload videos of up to 10 minutes in length. The app automatically plays videos as soon as it is launched.
    Instagram stories-This feature allows users to take photos or videos, add filters or effects and add them to their Instagram stories. A user’s story usually expires after 24 hours. By making use of the “Story Search” feature users can search for geographic locations or hashtags and the app displays relevant public stories content featuring the search term.
    Instagram Direct- Instagram Direct is a feature which allows users to interact with each other through private messaging. When users receive a message from someone they don’t follow, the message is marked as pending and the user must accept to view it. Users can reply to messages with text or emoji or by simply clicking on the heart icon.
    Monetization- Instagram began monetization efforts in the year 2013. Video and image ads appear between users’ photos in the news feed. It includes tools for business accounts, business profiles, insight analytics, and the ability to turn posts into ads directly.
    Third party services- The popularity of this app has led to a variety of third-party services using its functionality and adopting it into formats not officially supported.
    Stand-alone apps- Instagram has released three standalone apps with specialized functionality. It released Bolt, Hyperlapse, and Boomerang consecutively.

How to download Instagram from

Step 1: Access the internet and open your web browser from your Smartphone.

Step 2: Open download link.
